Dr. Carol
Archie Carol Archie, MD, associate clinical professor at
the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, and immediate past chair of the Venice
Family Clinic's board of directors, will receive its Irma Colen Leadership Award
on February 23 at a gala dinner at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Dr. Archie has been
a dedicated volunteer physician at the Clinic since 1988, where she was
instrumental in developing a prenatal care program for women with no other
access to such care. Dr. Archie took the helm at VFC at a time when Los Angeles
County threatened to end a partnership with the Clinic that could have cost it
$3 million in reimbursement for patient care. Under her leadership, the Clinic
prevailed. The Clinic with its close ties to UCLA's schools of medicine,
dentistry, public health and nursing, is a place where undergraduates, grad
students, medical students, and faculty train or volunteer. Dr. Archie continues
to volunteer as well as serve on Clinic committees as an advocate for the poor
and uninsured. Please click here for more information about Dr. Archie. Copyright © 2004-2011 Vickie M. Mays, PhD, MSPH |
