About Dr. Yu: Dr. Hongjian Yu is the associate director for statistical support and programming and a senior statistician at the Center. His research in statistics has involved mixed generalized linear models, hierarchical models, survey design, and small-area estimation. Dr. Yu’s work focuses on healthcare related issues, which include estimates of uninsured rates in California’s legislative districts, modeling and estimating eligibility for MediCal and Healthy Families programs for children and parents with uninsured children in California, and discrepancies in health insurance coverage and health care access among Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs). Projects include the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) and the California Employer Health Insurance Survey. His work concentrates on the analysis of extensive survey data, such as CPS and NHIS and, most recently, the California Health Interview Survey. Dr. Yu also has extensive experience in statistical consulting. He has served as a consultant on many projects involving statistical analysis, sample design, and data management and programming. Dr. Yu received his doctorate in Biostatistics from UCLA, his master's degree in Biometrics from Cornell University, and his bachelor of science degree in Computer Science from Nanjing Aeronautical Institute in Nanjing, China. |
