Computer Assistant Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in web, internet and word processing programs. Must be detailed-oriented, have ability to work independently with instructions and excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience working with data preferred but not required. Advanced PC skills in the use of Excel, MS Office (particularly Word, FrontPage), experience in UNIX environment a plus. Prefer a working knowledge of UCLA contracts and grants procedures, reimbursement procedures for travel, parking, and invoices for services and honorariums. Must have experience in accounting or grant management. Administrative Assistant The UCLA Center for Research, Education, Training and Strategic Communication on Minority Health Disparities is currently seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to serve both the Center and the Center’s director in a variety of capacities. Responsibilities will include coordination of travel, catering, communications, advertising and paperwork for events hosted by the Center. Responsibilities may also include maintaining an inventory of supplies, drafting and editing correspondence, scheduling and maintaining the calendar of the Center director, and basic clerical duties.
Qualifications: Must have demonstrable skills using advanced features of Microsoft Word (formatting documents, creating tables, etc.). Must be independent, with good oral and written English communication skills and be extremely responsible. Must have web design experience (familiarity with Microsoft FrontPage is highly desired). Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be highly organized and capable of self-managing tasks with frequent interruptions and deadlines. Must be extremely professional and capable of working with a diverse group of people (students, professors, campus officials, service providers). Advanced student has opportunity for long term job.
